Our mission is to waken the people of God to the mission of God. The DNA of this mission is made up of three main components.
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Making disciples is how Jesus Christ spent his time on Earth. He saw the potential, value, and worth in all people. He genuinely loved everyone; and as a result of that love, He desired that all would follow Him, love Him, and begin to live like Him. As this happened, the people of God were wakened to His mission in this world. They began to live with purpose and experience the full life Jesus Christ promised.
Waken Ministries desires to waken the people of God to the mission of God and we will accomplish this through making disciples that disciple others. Discipleship happens at three different levels:
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
When Christ followers work together and learn from one another, our effectiveness at our mission increases exponentially. By networking with other expressions of the church, we desire to:
“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot." You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
If God’s mission for our lives is to bring life, wholeness, blessing, and hope to all people, then we, the people of God, will be required to actively live out our faith…a faith that is demonstrated through acts of love, good deeds, and the practice of servanthood. As a result, we will begin to waken others to God’s mission.
